COOL trick on a Minimoog Model D 2022 Reissue Feat Linndrum and Prophet 5

video upload by Allen Michael

"For sometime I was trying to figure out how to sequence the moog without a daw. I sent the linndrum hi hat to the trigger input on the new minimoog. Very easy.

Tip #1 You have to quickly tap the key or else it will hold out the note for too long.

I like the new minimoog it’s fun."

Prototype 1974 Vintage 1974 RMI KC-1 Keyboard Computer SN 509 with Punch-Out Card Reader

via this auction

"Wow! This is the 1974 RMI Rocky Mount Instruments KC-1 Keyboard Computer! It has just arrived fresh from a Colorado Estate! I am still going through this incredibly rare synthesizer! This is the world's first portable digital synthesizer!! Less than 100 were ever made! That is the best guess as to how many were actually ever produced! The Keyboard Computer II, or KCII, followed this original KC1 version. That KCII model was offered from 1975 to 1982..

First users included Jean Michael Jarre and Garth Hudson, Uses the North American Rockwell MOS chip set that came right out of the NASA Space program from the 1960s!

10-voice polyphonic digital wavetable synthesizer with IBM punch card reader. I have about 50 IBM punch cards included in sale

This keyboard Pre-dates all PPG and Prophet digital synthesizers!

Low serial number- all wood enclosure-not the plastic top KC1 version- the selector buttons light up when selected as only the very first versions did!

61 key polyphonic-3 Audio channel output- 3rd channel was for white noise only

$4,495 in 1974"

Related posts: The PPG 1003 "Sonic Carrier" - World's First Programmable Synth? - The First Synth to.... Also see the RMI channel.

Update via 909955847736 in the comments: "This is actually the prototype which was used on the demo record, ads, and promotional tours. It's very possible that only one of these was ever made. It's the only one with a wood body and illuminated switches. The production model Keyboard Computer (KCI) has a molded plastic body with non-lighted push-in/push-out buttons. And it also had a few differences in the voices and functions compared to this instrument. They are both portable versions of the Allen Theater Organ. The later KCII was not directly associated with any specific Allen organ model. None of the KC models qualify as a synthesizer any more than any other electronic organ did in 1974."

The Day The Earth Stood Still 1951 - Theremin studio session.

Uploaded on Oct 17, 2010 lostinthetimes's channel

via Brett Hoyle on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge via The Playlist where you'll find a post on the piece.

Video description:
"The soundtrack was composed in August 1951 and was Bernard Herrmann's first soundtrack after he moved to Hollywood. Herrmann chose unusual instrumentation for the film: violins, cellos, and basses (all three electric), two theremin electronic instruments (played by Dr. Samuel Hoffman and Paul Shure), two Hammond organs, a large studio electric organ, three vibraphones, two glockenspiels, marimba, tam-tam, 2 bass drums, 3 sets of timpani, two pianos, celesta, two harps, 1 horn, three trumpets, three trombones, and four tubas. Unusual overdubbing and tape-reversal techniques were used, as well. 20th Century Fox later reused the Herrmann title theme in the original pilot episode for Irwin Allen's 1965 TV series Lost in Space. Danny Elfman noted The Day the Earth Stood Still's score inspired his interest in film composing, and made him a fan of Herrmann.

The Day the Earth Stood Still is a 1951 American science fiction film that tells the story of a humanoid alien visitor who comes to visit the Earth with a warning, accompanied by his powerful robot, "Gort". Robert Wise directed this film, and its leading actors and actresses were Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Sam Jaffe, and Hugh Marlowe. "Gort" is also a primary character in this motion picture, but he is portrayed as a completely mechanical man. The writer of The Day the Earth Stood Still, Edmund H. North, based his screenplay on Harry Bates's short story "Farewell to the Master" (1940).

Julian Blaustein produced this film for 20th Century Fox, and its cinematography was executed by Leo Tover. Nearly all of the action takes place in Washington, D.C., where the alien spacecraft lands, and then remains without moving for almost the entire motion picture."

Kebu - Michael's Anthem

YouTube Published on Jun 24, 2012 by kebunator

http://kebu.fi
http://www.facebook.com/kebunator

"This tune was recorded using only a 4 track cassette recorder and a drum machine triggering arpeggios on the synths. No sequencers or computers used (except for mastering). First, the track was programmed into the drum machine. The three trigger outputs were used for clocking (giving rhythms) to the arpeggiators. Then, the backing track was played back and the arpeggiators played (chords or notes). This was submixed into two tracks (stereo) on the cassette deck. The melody lines and solos were overdubbed using the two remaining tracks. The last additions (noise bursts, doubling of the C-part) were added during mixdown of the song.

The song is also available on my debut album, which is out now.

Synths used: Roland TR-808; Korg Mono/Poly, M500, Polysix, Poly-61, PE-2000.
Other equipment: SansAmp GT2, Lexicon MPX500, Vesta spring reverbs, Allen & Heath GS1, Alesis IO26,
Camera: Canon HF M406"

LZX Featured in Neon Indian's "Mind, Drips" Video

Neon Indian "Mind, Drips" Official Video

YouTube Uploaded by neonindianband on Dec 6, 2010

I thought this was pretty cool. The following is the actual video description from the the band on YouTube. It's great to see successful bands directly support the makers like this. Neon Indian also worked with Bleep Labs on the PAL198X (links below).

"Lars Larsen is an electronics designer and multimedia artist in Austin, Texas. Larsen's work focuses on synergistic relationships between technology and subject, and the resurrection of forgotten pre-Computer Age technologies. Over the past few years, he and partner Edward Leckie of Sydney, Australia have been developing an analogue video synthesizer called the LZX Visionary in the tradition of esoteric video art tools used in the 1970's. The LZX Visionary manipulates and creates images in the same way a normal synthesizer does for sounds. Mind Drips is the first music video to utilize this unique synthesizer, and all of its visual effects are recorded in real-time using techniques such as abstract pattern synthesis, video feedback, and analog compositing. For more information on the LZX Visionary video synthesizer, visit http://www.lzxindustries.net or e-mail lars@lzxindustries.net

From the April 2010 issue of Stomp and Stammer Magazine:

What's not to love about a concert series billed as a showcase for "real electronic music played by humans"? That's what's in store for attendees of the third annual City Skies Festival, April 29–May 1, at Kavarna, the cozy boho bar/coffee house/bistro located in beautiful downtown Oakhurst.

"City Skies was originally conceived as a community building event," said Jim Combs, a soft-spoken Atlanta musician and organizer-promoter of the event. "I wanted to bring together friends and musicians who have inspired me, so we could play, trade stories and find out what everybody is up to in terms of their equipment – you know, get our geek on."

Like its predecessors, the 2010 edition of City Skies will feature a gaggle of musicians from the metro area and beyond, playing an array of mad scientist gear ranging from a marimba lumina – a fly-by-wire percussion instrument built by synthesizer wizard Don Buchla – to an electronic clarinet, DIY laptop contraptions and even iPods, as well as the occasional guitar, flute and drum.

Sharing the Kavarna stage with homeys Allen Welty-Green, Randy Garcia, Killer Haven, Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel, and others will be no fewer than four performers from Tennessee (Michael Peck, Tony Gerber, Mark Mahoney and something called 84001), two Richards (Lainhart and Devine, both considered masters of their respective sub-genres) and an assortment of knob twirling, switch flicking, mouse-wranglers from Kansas, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. One band, The Wiitles, uses Nintendo Wiimotes as instruments to play rock music.

"There will be plenty of experimental things happening, but also stuff that will be familiar," Combs said. "The main idea is to share the passion we have for this music."

Real electronic music performed live by humans!
